A word for your photo editors. The report “Toyota poised to unleash its humanoid robots” (Report, November 2), includes a picture in which, according to the caption in the print version of the FT, “a Toyota robot plays basketball”. This is pure anthropomorphism, and evidence of a disturbing trend of attributing human qualities to machines.
